Program for Leading Graduate Schools: PhD Professional: Gateway to Success in Frontier Asia, Raising Leaders to Explore New Horizons

Student Support

Stipend

For graduate students to be future leaders of society to concentrate in his/her study, program participants will receive a stipend of ¥200,000 monthly.

The stipend period shall be 4 years and 6 months, from October onwards of the first year of enrollment. Note that the stipend may be terminated based on results of performance review, academic achievements.

NOTE

  • Tuitions will not be automatically exempted for the participants of this program. Each student can, however, apply for the tuition exemption for Nagoya University under usual procedure.
  • The stipend will be treated as income under Japanese tax law, so as to be taxable.
  • The amount of financial support may be subject to vary or to termination based on programmatic budgetary restriction.

Housing Assistance

Participants can apply for share-house housing for this program to share daily life with some student from the different cultural environment. The rent will be partly supported by the program.

Travel Expense Support

Travel expenses to go overseas as a part of the program, as overseas training, ambition camp, or "Gateway to Success" program will be supported by the program, according to the achievement shown as the "PhD Professional" point.

Achievement Review and Awards of Merit

Achievement Review will be held annually under the presence of University president. Considering the contents of review, evaluation from mentors, and "PhD Professional" points gained from daily activity in the program, three students from every cohort will be awarded by the President annually as outstanding.
